Aqua is booming

The 'aqua sector' is booming. Exports are gaining momentum with the postponement of US tariffs. Shrimp prices are gradually rising. These developments are giving hope to farmers.

Turmoil at the field level.. With the announcement of US tariffs, the price of 100 count at the field level has fallen from Rs. 240 to Rs. 190-200. 30 count has fallen from Rs. 470 to Rs. 390-400. With the difference of Rs. 50 to Rs. 80, the growers are deeply worried. Farmers who made urgent purchases have lost up to Rs. 1-2 lakh per acre.

Government efforts have paid off.. In this regard, the efforts made by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to support Aqua have paid off. The prices of shrimp fodder have decreased by Rs. 4,000 per ton and the prices of shrimp are gradually stabilizing.
The influence of middlemen has decreased..'The system of middlemen who make money from any small problem in Aqua has been stopped. With the decrease in fodder prices and the increase in shrimp prices, hopes are rising for cultivation,' said Pokala Durga Prasad, an Aqua farmer from Bhaskarraopet.

The price of large count should increase.. 'The price of 50,40,30 counts has been drastically reduced under the pretext of tariffs. The coalition government has saved aqua while farmers were thinking about the harvest break. Prices have been increasing for weeks. If the price of large count increases by another Rs. 20-30 per kg, it will be a bit of a relief,' says Immaneni Chandrasekhar, a shrimp farmer from Kondangi.
